Nathan Belz has been named the PacTrans Researcher of the Year by the Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium. Belz, an assistant professor of civil engineering, received the award in recognition of the significant outcomes from his research, for including students and their contributions in his work, and for his community service and leadership.

Nathan has over 10 years of research experience specific to rural transportation issues. He currently serves as the assistant director of the Center for Safety Equity in Transportation, a Tier 1 USDOT University Transportation Center, led by UAF.

“We are thrilled that one of our own, Nathan Belz, received the PacTrans Researcher of the Year award recognizing his highway safety research and contributions to the research mission of PacTrans,” said Billy Connor, director of the Alaska University Transportation Center and a PacTrans board member.
