Morley, Granberg garner pair of CCHA Player of the Week awards

First-year forward Tyler Morley (Burnaby, B.C./Genreal Studies) was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's Gongshow® Rookie of the Week and senior forward Jarret Granberg (Foremost, Alberta/Business Administration) was named the league's Postgame® Offensive Player of the Week.

Monday's announcement marks the second straight week the Nanooks were recognized with two player of the week awards. For both players it was their first such player of the week honor and marked the Nanooks sixth and seventh players, respectively, to recieve one of the CCHA's weekly accolades.

Granberg led all players with three goals and two assists in a weekend road sweep of then-ranked No. 4/5 Notre Dame via 5-4 and 2-1 decisions.  He scored twice, including the game winner, added an assist and was the Perani Cup first star in a 5-4 win at Notre Dame on Friday before adding two assists in a 2-1 win over the Irish on Saturday.

Morley had two assists, including one on the game winner, in a 5-4 victory at Notre Dame on Friday. He bettered his multi-point performance the next night by scoring the game-winning goal and was the Perani Cup first star in a 2-1 win on Saturday to complete a sweep of the Irish, Alaska's first in South Bend since 2006.

The Nanooks host the Northern Michigan Wildcats this weekend at the Carlson Center. Openeing faceoff both nights is 7:05 p.m.
