Midnight Sun Writer's Series features Steve Almond April 6

April 4, 2012

Marmian Grimes

Steve Almond will read in the next Midnight Sun Visiting Writer's Series event at 7 p.m., Friday, April 6, in the Wood Center Ballroom. This event is free and open to the public.

Almond is the author the story collections My Life in Heavy Metal and The Evil B.B. Chow, the novel Which Brings Me to You (with Julianna Baggott), and the non-fiction books Candyfreak and (Not That You Asked). His new book, Rock and Roll Will Save Your Life, will be out in spring 2010. He is also, crazily, self-publishing a book called This Won't Take But a Minute, Honey, which is composed of 30 very brief stories, and 30 very brief essays on the psychology and practice of writing.

Since the 1970s, the Midnight Sun Writer's Series has brought many of the nation’s finest writers to Alaska, and the writers scheduled to appear this year will add to that proud tradition. All Midnight Sun Visiting Writers readings are free and open to all.
