After a national search, Vice Chancellor for University and Student Advancement Mike Sfraga has named Laura McCollough the new dean of students.

In her new position, McCollough will serve as an ombudsman for students and as the student judicial officer. The dean of students oversees the student discipline process.

McCollough has nearly 20 years of experience in student services. She began her career as a residence hall director at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In 2002, she joined the UAF Department of Residence Life as the first year experience coordinator. She has served as the director of residence life and housing at UAF since 2012.

With McCollough’s departure from her position at the Department of Residence Life, current associate director Jamie Abreu will serve as interim director. A national search is planned to fill the position.
