Math and science conference activities open to the public

The bi-annual Alaska Math and Science Conference for Educators will be hosted on campus Saturday – Monday, Sept. 24 – Sept. 26, by the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, along with the Alaska Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Alaska Science Teachers Association. Over 300 educators from around the state have registered to participate in the conference for professional development and training.

The conference agenda for Sunday, Sept. 25, includes two exciting activities sponsored by UAF that are free to the general public. Beginning at 6 p.m. the public can participate in the student showcase in the Great Hall, where people can see and participate in projects created by students from across the state related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. At 7 p.m. guest presenter Vi Hart will engage the audience in Davis Concert Hall with her "Mathemusician's Musings," where she'll provide a unique perspective as to how she looks at the world of mathematics.
