Alaska Agriculture Appreciation Day, set for Aug. 7 at the Matanuska Experiment Farm in Palmer, will highlight agricultural endeavors in the 49th state.

The event has been compared to a small county fair, open house, farmers’ market and educational opportunity rolled into one. It features exhibits, animals, classes, demonstrations, live music, food vendors and children's games.

Agriculture Day is free. It's open from noon to 5 p.m. at 1509 S. Georgeson Drive. An added bonus is an open house for the Cooperative Extension Service offices and classroom, now located at the farm. Call 907-746-9450 for more information.
