Lowercase job titles

I noticed communications are coming out with people's titles in all lowercase. Is this following the trend that Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz (or "ceo" as he called himself) started with lowercasing all their job titles? Without someone knowing the Starbucks trend, it looks like a grammatical error. Is this an initiative that all staff will lowercase their job titles soon? Just curious.
