Literary icon and outdoorsman Thomas McGuane will give a free public reading Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. in Schaible Auditorium at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

McGuane is the author of 10 acclaimed novels, three works of nonfiction and two collections of stories. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the National Cutting Horse Association Hall of Fame and the Flyfishing Hall of Fame.

His lecture is the first in the 2014 Midnight Sun Visiting Writers Series, which is hosted by the UAF English Department. The series is sponsored by Jim Perrizo, Peggy Shumaker and Joe Usibelli.
