Author Mary Albanese, publisher Lael Morgan and Rasmuson Library collection development officer Karen Jensen will present “The Life of a Book” on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 6 p.m. on Level Four of the UAF Elmer E. Rasmuson Library. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The panel will talk through the process that starts with the spark of an idea, which then goes through drafting, editing and collaborating with a publisher, and eventually  is chosen by a librarian and placed on the library shelf.

Albanese, a UAF alumna, is the author of “Midnight Sun, Arctic Moon: Mapping the Wild Heart of Alaska,” an account of her life in Alaska from 1977 to 1987. She lives in England and is a film and TV scriptwriter, an artist, and a songwriter. Morgan is author of “Art and Eskimo Power: The Life and Times of Alaskan Howard Rock,” associate professor emerita from the UAF journalism department, and founder and board chair of Epicenter Press. Jensen is librarian and collection development officer at the Rasmuson Library.
