4-H agent Candi Dierenfield and members of the Fairbanks Entrepreneurial Lions Club will lead two financial literacy workshops for young entrepreneurs who plan to participate in Alaska Lemonade Day on June 14.

The free workshops will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. May 17 at the Fairbanks district Cooperative Extension Service office at 724 27th Ave. and from 4 to 6 p.m. May 29 at the North Pole Fire Department.

Lemonade Day is coordinated by the University of Alaska Center for Economic Development and the UAA Business Enterprise Institute. Participants operate a lemonade stand and learn about starting a business and giving back to the community. They may keep the proceeds from their sales but are encouraged to “spend a little, save a little and share a little with their community.” More than 3,000 Alaska youths participated last year.

Youths may sign up for the fourth annual Lemonade Day at http://Alaska.lemonadeday.org and pick up a backpack with a workbook at any Wells Fargo branch. Register for the workshop by contacting Dierenfield at cldierenfield@alaska.edu and bring the workbook to the training. Adults may also participate in Lemonade Day by buying a cool glass of lemonade from a young entrepreneur.
