Lecture series invites participants to ‘Discover Alaska’

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a free public lecture series, Discover Alaska, beginning May 30. The series is cosponsored by the Northern Alaska Environmental Center and will run Wednesdays at 7 p.m. through June 27, with the exception of June 6.

Guest lecturers will offer an in-depth look at various aspects of Alaska. The lectures will take place in Schaible Auditorium on the UAF campus.

Following is a schedule of lectures for the rest of the summer:

May 30—“The Top 20 Things You Didn’t Know About Alaska” with Ned Rozell

June 13—“Back in the day… Before Oil” with Terrence Cole

June 20—“Gates of the Arctic” with Don and Tracie Pendergrast

June 27—“The Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge” with Mark Bertram and Vince Matthews
