summer_black Summer Sessions is hosting a variety of lectures, movies and concerts this week. All events will take place at the Murie Building Auditorium, unless otherwise noted, and are free to the public.

Wednesday, Aug. 14
5:30 – 6:30 p.m. — Family Fitness Wednesday: Join us for an hour of group fitness for all ages. At the Student Recreation Center, FREE ENTRY and PARKING: Patty Center parking lot.

7 p.m. — Discover Alaska Lecture: “Overflow: 25 years of cartooning in Alaska” with Jamie Smith, Cartoonist

Thursday, Aug. 15

7 p.m. — Music in the Garden with Haifa. Fairbanks' own Sam Herreid and Rebecca K. File will include personal compositions for a very eclectic night of music ranging from folk, jazz, and hip hop to classical influences.

7 p.m. — REEL History night, King of the Hill (1974) Follows one of the greatest Canadian baseball players of all time, Ferguson Jenkins, through the 1972 and 1973 seasons. (57 mins)

Tuesday, Aug. 20 Special Event


7 p.m. — Healthy Living Lecture: “The New Health Insurance Marketplace and You" with Susan Johnson, Regional Director, U.S. Department of Health  & Human Services, region 10.
