KUAC TV is now broadcasting UATV on KUAC 9.4.

UATV will replace 360 North. “Gavel to Gavel,” the publicly funded legislative coverage produced out of KTOO in Juneau, will begin airing on KUAC’s World 9.2 when the session opens in January.

The addition follows several months of discussions with KUAC’s licensee, the University of Alaska, about a move to offer college courses and research material to Alaskans in the Interior’s over-the-air market. Formerly, UATV was only accessible to cable subscribers.

“We wanted to level the playing field and provide more access than UATV now has on cable,” said Keith Martin, KUAC’s general manager. “This allows us to bring an even more diverse program package on KUAC’s four over-the-air channels to Interior Alaskans.”

UATV programming includes University of Alaska Southeast college credit courses, along with programs from Alaska Public Health Training Network and a variety of lecture and interview series, which combine to provide strong instructional and educational programming.

“KUAC has the number one over-the-air market in the nation,” Martin said. “Our priority is to ensure that Interior Alaska has access to the most robust and informative programming available.”
