Have you ever felt you were treated differently or bullied in your working or learning environment? Board of Regents policy holds all university employees responsible for maintaining a positive working and learning environment, and states that supervisors and faculty must respond promptly to complaints of discrimination.

Board of Regents policy holds all university employees responsible for maintaining a positive working and learning environment, and states that supervisors and faculty must respond promptly to complaints of discrimination.

Discrimination occurs when you are treated differently or harassed based on one of the following protected categories:

  • race

  • color

  • national origin

  • sex

  • religion

  • disability

  • age

  • genetics

  • retaliation (e.g., for opposing discrimination, filing a complaint or participating in a discrimination complaint)

  • sexual orientation


Chancellor Rogers has stressed that “UAF has not backed off and will not back off in our efforts to support a diverse faculty and student body.” Reporting violations is a federally protected right of both students and employees at UAF. If you believe your rights have been violated, contact the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity to seek resolution and/or file a complaint.
