Kids' events encourage college savings

The University of Alaska College Savings Plan team will host free events May 29 in Fairbanks and Anchorage to spread awareness about saving for college.

May 29 is National 5-29 College Savings Day.

The events are open to all university employees and their children (recommended ages 1-6). Kids will receive a free T-shirt and goodie bag. Employees will receive a free copy of the book "Everybody Freaks Out! But it's going to be okay."

The Fairbanks event will be in the Butrovich Building, Room 109, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature the Fairbanks Children's Museum and its "Museum without Walls" from 10 a.m. to noon. Stay for cake and a viewing of the team's new college savings chill-out videos from 1 to 2 p.m.

The Anchorage event will be at the Kaleidoscape Play Studio from 3 to 6 p.m.

Employee payroll deduction forms available with prizes for participants who sign up, elect payroll deduction, or increase their contribution amounts.
