May 3, 2012

Alaska Business Week is a high school-bridging program held on the UAF campus July 14 - 21. ABW gives students a hands-on learning opportunity to explore their leadership skills and future career choices in the area of business.

This simulated business environment immerses students in an actual scenario of running a business. Competing with other teams, students will discover their own leadership talents and strengths.

A team of dedicated business executives works directly with students throughout the week to advise and coach the teams in their pursuit of a winning strategy. Participants also receive in-depth briefings from a long roster of entrepreneurs and business leaders covering topics such as leadership, corporate ethics, marketing and finances.

In one short week students will learn how to run a successful business, take on leadership roles, create a new product or service, and compete against their peers all the while experiencing college life and earning two college credits. Cost is $450 which includes housing on campus, meals, tuition and all materials needed to fully participate in the program. Application deadline is June 1 and space is limited to the first 100 applicants.
