A senior at Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, Sherry has been shooting since he was seven and on the competitive scene since 2004.

In July of 2011, he won a bronze medal in the Junior Men's 50m Rifle Prone at the USA Shooting National Championships, the same event where returning sophomore and All-American Ryan Anderson was crowned the Junior National Champion.

Sherry is tops nationally for USA Shooting Juniors in prone and is among good company with three future teammates ranked in the top-seven: returning junior Michael Liuzza (2nd), Anderson (3rd) and fellow recruit Soren Butler (7th).

He is currently ranked 18th air rifle on a list that includes current and former Olympians as well as Nanooks. Olympic gold medalist and Team USA shooter Matt Emmons is ranked first, while alumnus Matthew Wallace is 15th, Anderson is 20th, Butler is 21st and Liuzza is 24th.

Last month, Sherry captured bronze in the three-position competition at this year's Junior Olympic Rifle Championships, which helped elevate him to 16th in the national rankings.

“He really stepped up at Junior Olympics last month and put up one of the top scores in the smallbore event so he has got a lot to add to the team and we're looking forward to having him,” said Jordan.

While Sherry's passionate and dedicated to his sport, he also enjoys biking, skiing and rock climbing in his free time. For his Eagle Scout project (in 2009), Sherry organized an event to teach shooting to injured and disabled veterans in his home state.

“He's really going to fit in well with the team next year as he's got the same personality and drive our athletes do,” added Jordan.

He plans to major in Mechanical Engineering and has career aspirations of working for an aerospace company.

Sherry joins Butler (Casselton, N.D.) in Jordan's recruiting class of 2016.
