Japanese student host families needed

The Alaska 4–H youth program is looking for host families in the Anchorage, Kenai or Mar-Su areas to participate in a summer exchange for Japanese teens. The teens will be coming to Alaska July 21 and staying through August 19.

To be a host family you must have a child between the ages of 10 and 16 who is willing to be a host brother or sister. The child and the host family will be matched with a Japanese child of the same gender, age and interest.

It is not necessary to be a 4–H member, but by being a host family the child will automatically become a 4–H member and will be eligible for 4–H activities. In turn, the host family child may have an opportunity to become an exchange student themselves.

For details, contact your local 4–H office or Tony Nakazawa at 907-460- 0825 or via email at atnakazawa@alaska.edu.

Exchange information is available online at www.uaf.edu/ces/4h/exchange/.
