Holiday message from Chancellor Powers

July 1, 2016

Carla Browning

On Monday, we celebrate our nation’s independence. I hope this holiday weekend is a time for you to relax with family, friends and loved ones. The opportunity to disconnect and recharge is important, especially at the close of our fiscal year.

As I walk around the campus and talk with all of you, I continue to be struck by the resilience, dedication and — quite often — optimism and pluck you bring to the campus virtually every day.  Times are tough.  But I have no doubt your belief in this university, combined with the kind of fortitude that founded our university, state and country, will carry us well beyond our current circumstances and forward into the next century. Despite the challenges we face, UAF’s future is very bright.

Thank you for all you do, and enjoy the long weekend.

Warmly,

Mike Powers
Interim chancellor
