Junior Bente Heller (Hamburg, Germany/Communication) opened the 2013 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship with a 22nd-place showing in the 50 freestyle preliminary on Wednesday morning at the CrossPlex Complex.

Heller turned in a time of 23.74 seconds, which was only nine one-hundredths-of-a-second shy of qualifying for the consolation final.

Both Heller and sophomore Margot Adams (Anchorage, Alaska/Political science) will be in action tomorrow. Adams will compete in the 100 butterfly, the event she finished runner-up in at last year's NCAA meet while Heller will partake in the 200 free. Adams is ranked fourth with a seed time of 55.35 while Heller is ranked 17th with a seed time of 1:51.54.

Live stats will be available for tomorrow's action as well as live video beginning at 7 a.m. (AKST).
