A memoir, Wi-Fi and the Bad Boys of Radio, by former UAF faculty member Alex Hills, relates his early experiences with ham radio, the study of electromagnetic waves and the history in developing the technology that would become Wi-Fi.

Hills was an electric engineer professor at UAF from 1984 – 1987, including teaching a summer elective for RAHI in 1984. A review of the book is available at www.wired.com/geekdad/2011/11/a-history-of-wi-fi/.
