UAF will participate in national Food Day Oct. 24 with an event from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Wood Center. Agricultural exhibits and demonstrations, a Taste of Alaska, Food Jeopardy and "iron chef" cookoff are some of the activities scheduled. Food Day is a nationwide grassroots mobilization for healthier diets and improved food policies organized by the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Food Day seeks to bring together Americans from all walks of life — parents, teachers, and students; health professionals, community organizers, and local officials; chefs, school lunch providers, and eaters of all stripes — to push for healthy, affordable food produced in a sustainable, humane way.
