The flu season began earlier than usual this year and reports of influenza remain high for much of the United States. The CDC continues to recommend vaccinations for all people over 6 months old and antiviral treatment as early as possible for people who get sick and are at high risk of complications from the flu. The symptoms are fever (defined as 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher), cough and sore throat, but may also include, headache, body aches, chills, fatigue, runny nose and other symptoms. A complete list of FAQs is available online, The following are some general recommendations:

  • Stay away from sick people if you can (ideally at least 6 feet away).

  • Wash your hands often or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth if you haven’t just washed your hands.

  • Keep your immune system healthy by getting enough rest and eating properly.
