Fighting for the Forty-Ninth Star, published by UA Press, is the story of how the publisher of a little newspaper four thousand miles from Washington, D.C. — the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner — helped convince Congress that Alaskans should be second-class citizens no more.

Parnell was on campus to discuss plans for celebrating next year's centennial of both the Juneau governor's mansion and the Alaska legislature.
