Arctic Java will host its first First Friday event Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. to introduce "Monsters and Legends," an exhibit of art by UAF eLearning staff and students.

The coffee shop, in Wood Center's ground floor, will host the show during October. The Student Activities Office is sponsoring the event.

In addition to paintings, photography, wood burnings, sculptures and Photoshop art, the show will feature a living/giving art exhibit. Knit and crochet projects (hats and scarves), plus all the tools necessary to finish the projects or start a new one, will be provided. All are welcome to sit and add a stitch or finish a whole project. Help will be available for those unfamiliar with knitting and crocheting. All projects will be donated to The Door youth shelter at the end of the month.

If knitting isn't your thing, there will also be a black canvas on the wall. Add your own drawing, sketch or doodle and be part of the show.
