The University Fire Department will host a farewell reception from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, June 24, to thank UAF fire Chief Doug Schrage for his service and leadership at UAF. Light refreshments will be offered.

Schrage has been working in the fire service since 1981, when he started working at UAF as a student firefighter. He worked for the Anchorage Fire Department for 26 years, retiring as the chief operating officer.

In 2010, he returned to UAF to serve as the fire chief. He also offered his knowledge and support through various projects, serving as UAF’s emergency manager, teaching fire administration and leadership courses, and implementing community CPR classes at UAF.
