Elvey Building to close March 16-19

March 15, 2017

UAF News

The Elvey Building will be closed March 16-19 during installation of a new 9-meter dish on the building's roof. No UAF personnel should be present in the Elvey Building (tower, Globe Room or Elvey auditorium) during the construction project.  All occupants should vacate the building by 5 p.m. March 15.

During the building's closure, employees may choose to work from another campus location, work from home or take a day of annual leave. These plans must be approved by one's supervisor.

Regular access to the Elvey Building is expected to resume on Monday, March 20.

After more than 25 years of service, the pale blue 10-meter dish that was atop the Elvey Building will be retired. The new, smaller dish will receive scientific information from polar-orbiting satellites that pass overhead as often as 11 times per day.
