Elaine Drew has been named the winner of the UAF Honors College's 2021 Robert Piacenza Outstanding Teaching Award.

"Dr. Drew is a tremendous advocate," wrote a student in a testimonial. "As an undergraduate, it can sometimes be difficult to understand concepts, complete assignments, or decide the direction of one's studies. Dr. Drew is a tremendous supporter of students and a passionate academic. Either in a course or outside a course Dr. Drew provides students with resources from recent articles from the anthropological field to academic activities to explore the world."

Drew is a medical anthropologist. Her research draws on collaborative and community-based methods to support culturally based health promotion and intervention research with American Indian, Alaska Native, Latino and African-American communities.
