Down Memory Lane series highlights UAF history

The Down Memory Lane interview series, which features conversations with retired University of Alaska Fairbanks faculty members and administrators, will begin June 3.

The series is presented by UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will provide a forum for longtime employees to share wisdom, memories and highlights from their careers and the university. The interviews will be at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Murie Building auditorium.

Down Memory Lane interview subjects this summer will include:

June 3 — Aldona Jonaitis, professor of anthropology and director of the University of Alaska Museum of the North, 1993-2009
June 10 — Joan Braddock, professor of biology and dean of the College of Natural Science and Mathematics, 1977-2009
June 17 — Larry Kaplan, professor of linguistics and director of the Alaska Native Language Center, 1974-2018
June 24 — Pete Pinney, professor of English and associate vice chancellor for the College of Rural and Community Development, 1991-2017
July 15 — Frank Soos, professor of creative writing, 1986-2004
July 22 — Doug Goering, professor of mechanical engineering and dean of the College of Engineering and Mines, 1989-2018
July 29 — Phyllis Morrow, professor of anthropology and dean of the College of Liberal Arts, 1987-2007
Aug. 5 — Ron Smith, professor of zoology, 1968-1997
