Donations of children’s winter clothing are sought as part of a winter gear drive for young Fairbanks children.

The clothing drive is co-hosted by the University of Alaska Fairbanks 4-H Military Partnerships and the Fairbanks Families/Best Beginnings programs.

4-H agent Candi Dierenfield said the goal is to help Fairbanks-area children stay safe and warm while being physically active outside during the cold winters.

Donations are sought by Aug. 15 for youth from newborns to 8 years old and will be given away Sept. 12 during the Best Beginnings Family Health Fair in Fairbanks. Items sought include hats, scarves, gloves, snow pants, winter jackets, snow boots and long underwear. Items must be clean and in good condition.

Donations may be delivered to the MAC Federal Credit Union, Walgreens, the Carlson Center administrative office, the Resource Center for Parents and Children, North Pole Madden Real Estate office, the Corvias Housing office and the 168 Air National Guard Family Programs on Eielson Air Force Base. For more information, contact Dierenfield at 907-474-1909 or cldierenfield@alaska.edu.
