Dean of Libraries announced

Provost Susan Henrichs announced that Bella Karr Gerlich has accepted the position
of UAF Dean of Libraries. She plans to start work at UAF August 15.
Gerlich is coming to UAF from the position of university librarian of the Rebecca
Crown Library at Dominican University in Illinois. From 2006 – 2008 she was an associate
professor and associate university librarian at the Georgia College and State University,
Library and Instructional Technology Center. From 1995 – 2006 she served in several
positions at Carnegie Mellon University. Gerlich earned her Ph.D. Library and Information
Sciences in 2006 from the University of Pittsburgh. She received a Master's of Public
Management in 1999 from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in
1985 from Virginia Commonwealth University.
