April 5, 2019

University Relations

The College of Liberals Arts' social work program will present a screening of "Dawnland" on Tuesday, April 9, from 6-9 p.m. in Schaible Auditorium.

"Dawnland" tells the story of the Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the first in the U.S. to address Native issues. "Dawnland" takes viewers to Wabanaki communities and inside the truth commission as it grapples with the meaning of truth, reconciliation, racial healing, tribal autonomy and child welfare system reform.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments and a discussion will follow the movie.
