Dandekar receives petroleum engineers' award

Professor Abhijit Dandekar received the Distinguished Member Award from the Society of Petroleum Engineers during its Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, held Oct. 27–29 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The SPE recognized Dandekar, chair of UAF's Department of Petroleum Engineering, for his distinct contributions to the petroleum engineering industry throughout his long career as a professor and researcher. Dandekar has published one book and authored or co-authored more than 38 peer-reviewed journal papers. He also has given more than 50 conference presentations at SPE and major industry events.

The SPE is a nonprofit professional association whose 124,000 members are engaged in energy resources development and production worldwide.

"SPE international award winners were nominated by their colleagues and selected by their peers for their achievement and contributions and it’s my pleasure to congratulate them on receiving this prestigious international award from SPE."
