Couples communication workshop

April 16, 2019

Tori Tragis

Heterosexual couples who want to improve their communication are invited to take part in a 90-minute workshop as part of a dissertation research project. The workshop leader is Ph.D. student Jessica McKay, a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in couple-based interventions.

The couple should be in a committed (not married) relationship, and both partners must be between the ages of 18 and 40. A short screening over the phone is needed to determine eligibility. Once couples qualify for the study, they will complete a pair of surveys (alone and with the partner) and take part in a group workshop on the Fairbanks campus. They will also be asked to complete follow-up surveys, after which each couple will receive a $25 gift card to Fred Meyer.

The workshop is free and open to all couples, although preference is given to UAF students. You can download a flyer here. For more information or to participate, please contact Jessica McKay at jcmckay@alaska.edu or 907-799-6014.

If you have questions or concerns about your rights as a research participant, you can contact the UAF Office of Research Integrity at 474-7800 (Fairbanks area) or 1-866-876-7800 (toll-free outside the Fairbanks area) or uaf-irb@alaska.edu.
