Construction information and forum video

A number of construction projects across the campus will affect roads, parking lots
and pedestrian walkways this summer. The three main projects in the campus core are
the Wood Center Dining Facility Addition, the Fine Arts Complex vapor barrier project
and the new Engineering Building. Tanana Loop road will close April 1, 2013 from the
west end of the Bunnell Building to the east side of the Duckering Building, and will
remain closed for two years.In addition, a sewer line replacement will close Tanana Loop road between the Duckering Building and the Fine Arts Complex from June through August. There will also be a number of departments changing locations as a result of the Margaret Murie Building opening and space opening up in the Bunnell and Eielson buildings. A number of campus events that normally take place in the core of campus have been relocated this year.
On West Ridge, the Margaret Murie Building will be completed this summer, and June 10 extensive exterior work at the Butrovich Building will commence. The Butrovich Building will remain open, but pedestrian access will be limited and most of the Butrovich parking lot will be closed. Butrovich Building occupants will need to park across the street until the project is complete in late August. Facilities Services will place signs around campus containing updated road and parking information. Please allow extra time to get to your destination, and check our website for additional information. We ask for your patience as we work through the multiple challenges of a busy season. The new projects will add more than 150,000 square-feet of new space to the campus. They will significantly change the look and feel of the campus core and help us to better serve our students.
Parking and transportation
Due to construction staging, several other lots will be affected. The map linked here shows some of the work and affected parking lots, but we'll provide regular updates and changes as the construction gets underway.

If you'd like more information, please consider attending a forum in person or via live webstream. The purpose of the forum is to help inform the campus about what to expect, but also to identify any issues that staff might have and address them the best we can.
