The U.S. Department of Education's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Title IX was published in the federal register Thursday, Nov. 28. The USDOE's 60 day comment period will extend until Monday, Jan. 28, 2019.

The proposed rules are being evaluated by the university’s legal team and Title IX experts, who will recommend comments to UA leadership. Please connect with your governance group on how they are collecting feedback as input for UA leadership to consider in formulating UA's comments to USDOE. Also, individuals and governance groups can submit comments directly to USDOE.

Below are some tips for providing feedback to USDOE:

  • Comments may be submitted through the Federal eRulemaking Portal.

  • USDOE encourages commenters to submit using a print-to-PDF format allowing the Department to electronically search and copy certain portions of the submissions.

  • USDOE encourages commenters to clearly identify the specific section or sections of the proposed regulations that each of your comments addresses, and arrange your comments in the same order as the proposed.

Final rules, including any changes, will not be in place for some time. UA will continue to abide by the Voluntary Resolution Agreement with OCR, and UAF will continue working to build a culture of respect, diversity, inclusion and caring culture across all campuses.
