Extension offering free classes in Palmer, Fairbanks

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service offices in Palmer and Fairbanks will host a week of free mini community classes as part of their Extension Week events.

Palmer
Fourteen classes will be offered in Palmer Oct. 21-25. Topics will include meal planning for diabetes, radon detection, heating with firewood, using a GPS and sustainable living. A full schedule and registration options are available online at www.uaf.edu/ces/districts/matsu. The classes will meet in the district office at 809 S. Chugach St. and at the Matanuska Experiment Farm.

Fairbanks
Registration is also open for 14 free classes Oct. 28 to Nov. 1 in Fairbanks. Classes include geocaching, gem prospecting, cooking healthy breads, forest management, fermented foods and more. The classes will meet in the Extension district office at 724 27th Ave., on the south side of the Fairbanks Community Food Bank building.
