Chartwells, the UAF food service provider, has begun to expand its selection of gluten-free products at all retail locations on the Fairbanks campus.

From sandwich breads to microwavable soups and entrees, there are many options. For the greatest variety, please be sure to  check out Campus Cache.

Gluten, found in wheat, rye, barley and some lesser-known grains, has gained notoriety as a problem protein. Gluten can cause or contribute to more than 200 medical conditions.

People who suffer from celiac disease are most affected. Symptoms can include but are not limited to recurring abdominal pain, tingling/numbness in hands and feet, chronic fatigue, joint pain, unexplained infertility and low bone density (osteopenia or osteoporosis).

Chartwells is dedicated to providing food to people with special dietary needs.
