Chancellor's Cornerstone Award nomination period open

December 6, 2013

It's time to recognize the vital contributions staff make to UAF every day by submitting nominations for the 2013 Chancellor's Cornerstone Award. Nominations will be accepted until Feb. 21, 2014.

Last year, dozens of employees took time out of their busy schedules to nominate their colleagues and staff for their exemplary work. This is an opportunity to recognize employees who have shown outstanding commitment to UAF. The criteria and nomination form are online. Submit a nomination today!

The awardee is recognized at Staff Appreciation Day and will receive a framed certificate, lapel pin and a cash award. Staff and faculty who nominate others will be entered in a drawing to win an ice cream party for their department.

The cornerstone behind the award
Judge James Wickersham laid the cornerstone on July 4, 1915, as a symbol of what would become the Alaska Agricultural College and School of Mines, and, later, the University of Alaska. The nod to our past is important. As we find ourselves nearing the 100th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone, there's one thing that's certain — our employees are the foundation of our future. Therefore it's fitting that our outstanding staff be honored with the Chancellor's Cornerstone Award.
