Burrell, White to fill vice chancellor positions

Chancellor Brian Rogers has appointed Kari Burrell as the vice chancellor for administrative
services effective Feb. 1, 2015. Burrell replaces Pat Pitney, who is now director
of the Office of Management and Budget for the state of Alaska.
Burrell will continue as UAF's executive officer, but will now also oversee Financial
Services, Facilities Services, Human Resources, the University Fire Department, the UAF
Police Department, Grants and Contracts, Procurement and Contract Services, and Environmental,
Health, Safety and Risk Management. This appointment reduces the number of senior
administrators at UAF.
Last week, the chancellor named Dan White as interim vice chancellor for research
to replace Mark Myers. White is currently director of the Institute of Northern Engineering and
associate vice chancellor for research.
Myers accepted a position as the Alaska Department of Natural Resources commissioner.
Myers' last day with UAF will be Jan. 15, and White will assume his interim responsibilities
at that time. White will be acting vice chancellor for research between now and Jan.
15 during periods when Myers is on leave.
After the new year, UAF will undertake an open recruitment to fill the vice chancellor
for research position on a permanent basis.
