TO: UAF staff and faculty members

FROM: Chancellor Brian Rogers

As some of you know, our UAF community lost two people suddenly in the last week. Bruce Travis, an HVAC technician in Facilities Services, passed away on Friday. Jason Miller, a budget coordinator in Financial Services, passed away on Tuesday.

Both men were longtime employees who provided many years of service to the university. They had strong bonds with our campus community and their sudden loss has deeply affected many of our friends and colleagues. Our condolences go out to both the Travis and Miller families. I also want to thank those of you who have already done so much to help those who have been touched by the loss of Jason and Bruce.

For those of you who would like some help dealing with these losses, I want to make sure you know that all employees have access to free grief support and counseling through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Please call 1-866-465-8934, 24 hours a day/seven days a week. Employees can also contact the EAP online athttp://guidanceresources.com and enter company Web ID: GC5901Q. First-time users will need to create an account.

A memorial service for Bruce is scheduled for Monday, June 18 at 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Facilities Services Customer Service Center is accepting donations to help Bruce's family defray funeral expense. A fundraising chili feed is being hosted at the Facilities Services Physical Plant from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, June 14. Cards can also be sent to 122 Brigham Way, Fairbanks, AK, 99709.

Jason's family is hoping to have a memorial service on campus next month. As it becomes available, we will share more information about the service, as well as information about where to send cards or memorial donations, here in the Cornerstone employee newsletter.
