The University of the Arctic has appointed Rich Boone, professor of ecosystem ecology at UAF, as the new dean and lead of UArctic's graduate studies. Richard takes over the role from Pierre-Andre Forest of the University of Lapland and Larry Duffy at UAF.

Boone notes that the priority under his chairmanship will be to conduct an environmental assessment and to create and maintain high quality graduate studies. The graduate studies team will meet in October to adopt a short term strategic plan, and for further development will seek student input.
