The Student Nurses Association of the University of Alaska Anchorage - Fairbanks Chapter is holding a bone marrow registry drive in the Wood Center on the following dates and times:

  • Monday, Feb. 20, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 21, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2 – 6 p.m.

  • Thursday, Feb. 23, 2 – 6 p.m.

  • Friday, Feb. 24, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Thousands of patients hope for a bone marrow donor who can make their life-saving transplant possible. People from ages 18 to 60 in generally good health are encouraged to attend the drive and fill out a short questionnaire. A small swap of cheek cells will be taken with a cotton swab to determine the tissue type to be matched against patients who need a donor. The information is then added to the "Be The Match" registry. No blood draw or extraction of marrow is needed at this event. For more information go to the Be the Match website or contact Leah Swasey, 907-687-7235.
