The Alaska women's basketball team had its first taste of a game atmosphere on Thursday night at the Patty Center with Blue defeating Gold 45-34 in its intra-squad scrimmage.

Blue had solid efforts from multiple players as sophomore guard Kelly Logue led the team with eight points, three assists and a pair of steals. Senior forward Jacqueline Lovato, junior guard Destini Lewis and sophomore guard Benissa Bulaya each contributed seven points, respectively, as the trio combined for 16 rebounds and 14 assists. Junior forward Samantha Thornton owned the glass with a game-high 10 rebounds to go with her six points.

Senior guard Taylor Altenburg scored 16 of her game-best 22 points while playing for Team Gold while freshman guard Brianna Kirk added five points and five rebounds.

Gold led 20-18 at halftime before being outscored 27-14 in the final 20 minutes. The team played a pair of 20-minute halves with running clock.

The Nanooks open the 2012-13 season on Nov. 10 when they host Colorado School of Mines at 7 p.m.
