The University of Alaska Fairbanks Arctic Region Supercomputing Center has resumed weekly tours of its complex for the summer. The tours begin at 1 p.m. every Wednesday on the lower level of the Butrovich Building on the Fairbanks campus.

ARSC research project assistants and UAF students will provide a brief overview of high-performance computing, the practice of aggregating computer power to solve problems that demand intensive computation, memory usage and data management. They also will discuss how supercomputers have been used at UAF to model tsunamis, volcanic ash plumes, sea ice, ice sheet activity and weather patterns.

The tours are free and no reservations are required.
