The Arctic Future Challenge is open for nominations. This is a youth entrepreneurship competition in the Arctic regions of the eight Arctic states. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization and University of Alaska Anchorage Center for Economic Development are working together for Alaska and the USA.

The challenge focuses on young entrepreneurs, ages 18-29, studying in an educational institution or operating a business in the Arctic region and eight Arctic states: Canada, Finland, Greenland, Faroe Islands (the Kingdom of Denmark), Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the United States of America. Support for the program is through funding from the governments of Denmark, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Iceland.

There are three competition categories: (1) Arctic Youth Founder of the Year; (2) Arctic Youth Startup of the Year; and (3) Best Arctic Youth Business Concept. To nominate someone, visit the Arctic Future Challenge website. Contact Peter Webley, pwwebley@alaska.edu, from UAF’s OIPC, for more information.
