Student-Athletes Participate in Student-Athlete Day of Action, It’s On Us Campaign

Alaska Nanooks student-athletes are speaking out against sexual assault through the It’s On Us campaign to end sexual assault.

The UAF campaign features student-athletes from each of Alaska’s 10 varsity sports. The effort was organized by Alaska Nanooks cross country runner and Nordic skier Sarissa Lammers, who serves on the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Begun in 2014, It’s On Us is a national campaign to end sexual assault through the creation of local and nationwide awareness of sexual violence and engagement in prevention efforts. Campaign participants pledge to “commit to helping create a culture of consent, bystander intervention and survivor support” as it relates to sexual assault.

Student-Athlete Advisory Committees in collegiate athletics departments across the U.S. are taking part in the It’s On Us campaign as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is observed in April.
