The Alaska men's basketball had one of the best turnarounds in all of college basketball this past season after more than tripling its win total from a year ago.

Alaska finished 16-12 overall and was fourth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings at 10-8. The Nanooks, led by second-year head coach Mick Durham, advanced to the GNAC Championship semifinals and notched a post-season win for the first time in eight years.

Now, let's take a look back at major highlights of the men's basketball season that captivated and surprised NCAA Division II.

Oct. 23 – Selected eighth in GNAC preseason poll, Stefan Tica named Preseason All-GNAC
Nov. 9 – Overcame eight-point halftime deficit in season opener and defeat CSU-Pueblo in overtime
Nov. 17 – Win GCI Alaska Invitational after winning three games in three days, Pat Voeut MVP
Nov. 19 – Nanooks GNAC Team of the Week, Pat Voeut Red Lion Player of the Week
Dec. 1 – First GNAC win of the year against MSU Billings
Dec. 17 – Scores second-most points in history with 124 points against Multnomah
Jan. 3 – Notched only third win ever at Nicholson Pavilion against Central Washington
Jan. 7 – Pat Voeut named Red Lion Co-Player of the Week
Jan. 10 – Alaska downs Saint Martin's by 23 in Mick Durham's 500th career game
Jan. 14 – Nanooks earn second GNAC Team of the Week award, Dominique Brinson named Red Lion Player of the Week
Feb. 11 – Sergej Pucar named Red Lion Co-Player of the Week
Feb. 21 – Alaska stuns No. 2 Western's Washington, ending nation's best 30-game win streak, Nanooks clinch GNAC Championship berth
Feb. 23 – Seniors sent out right as Alaska rallies in final minute to down Simon Fraser
Feb. 25 – Sergej Pucar named Red Lion Player of the Week
Feb. 26 – Nanooks claim third GNAC Team of the Week honor
Feb. 27 – Zach Ngawaka, Sergej Pucar and Stefan Tica named to GNAC All-Academic Team
Mar. 2 – Alaska clinched No. 4 seed for 2013 GNAC Championship
Mar. 4 – Mick Durham named GNAC Co-Coach of the Year, Three named to All-Conference teams
Mar. 7 – Alaska turns in second-best shooting night in tournament history to defeat MSUB in GNAC quarterfinals, first post-season win since 2005
Mar. 8 – Season ends in GNAC semifinals against eventual NCAA West Region champion Western Washington
