The Rasmuson and Mather libraries are part of a statewide cooperative that lets patrons locate and borrow materials from libraries all over Alaska without ever having to leave campus.

Anyone with a library card from one of the nearly 90 libraries belonging to the Alaska Library Catalog can check out nearly anything from other ALC member libraries. This includes all UAF students, faculty and staff, who can borrow items using their PolarExpress cards.

If you find something in the catalog, you can put it on hold with your UA ID number and your library PIN. (Call the library at 474-6762 for your PIN.) Then it will be delivered to the pickup library of your choice.

Items not held by ALC libraries, and for journals that UAF doesn't subscribe to, can still be requested through interlibrary loan. But the ALC makes finding, requesting, and borrowing Alaska-owned library books nearly seamless, faster than waiting for a bookmobile visit, and can be more convenient than visiting the public library downtown.
