Alaska EPSCoR will hold seed grants workshop

The Alaska National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research is soliciting applications for its slate of 2021 Research Seed Grants. These grants are awarded each year to University of Alaska faculty and students to conduct research with the potential to expand the depth and breadth of the Fire & Ice research program.

2021 seed grants will be awarded in two categories:


  1. Faculty Research Seed Grants of up to $20,000 each will be awarded to early- and mid-career, full-time faculty members of the University of Alaska to carry out proposals for new and innovative research projects that support the goals of the Alaska NSF EPSCoR Fire & Ice research project.

  2. Student Research Seed Grants of up to $4,000 each will be awarded for similar proposals from graduate or undergraduate students at the University of Alaska.


The deadline for 2021 applications is 5 p.m. Alaska time on Oct. 12, 2020, and awards will be announced by Oct. 30. For more information and applications, visit the EPSCoR awards website and see the award announcement and judging criteria.

To learn more about the awards, please attend the Seed Grant Methods and Approaches Workshop on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 2-4:30 p.m. The event will include information on the application process as well as discussions by project leads about which types of projects will fit best within Fire & Ice research.
